Haus am See

Close

Haus am See, a family-owned hotel transformation at Lake Constance.

A house firmly anchored in family ownership for three generations not only encompasses architectural elements but also holds a rich family history reflected in every square inch. The challenge of building within an existing structure transforms into a delicate evolution, where each centimeter bears not only structural but also nostalgic significance for the family and its residents.

The direct access to to Lake Constance with a private beach adds an exclusive touch to the property. Described as a magical place, where the play of light throughout the day is captured in the various rooms on the ground floor, a harmonious symbiosis emerges between the history of the house, the beauty of nature, and the unique personality of this extraordinary family estate.

A central aspect of the new interior concept was to create a captivating perspective that directs the view from the entrance area directly to the picturesque lake.

The task was to harmonize a heterogeneous building inventory from different, widely spaced time periods. Rooms that were once separate and belonged to entirely different sections of the building were now to be seamlessly united. The focus was on identifying and preserving selected existing elements to integrate them into the new interior design.

The magic of the lake should be palpable not only externally but also internally within the house. The lake, in an interplay between meditative calm and rugged nature, brings together the elements of water, air, and earth in a special way. The unparalleled view adorning almost all guest rooms with a direct gaze upon Lake Constance creates a connection between the living space and the majestic surroundings.
