Office Interior for Plantage*, a Berlin based agency for brand communication. Set in the historical buildings, which for the 38 years between 1883 and 1921 housed the traditional German chocolate manufacturer Zarotti, the office design celebrates rather than overlays its origins. Sandblasted walls create the impression the past being revealed, while among the internal, mobile elements such as the furniture, the juxtaposition between slick and rough materials emphasises the changing face of the space’s use. The floor is gradiated—different areas are separated by differing floor levels, creating separate spaces without the express need for true dividing elements. Individual offices—when required, such as for CEOs and think tanks—are angled at odds with the original building, highlighting the new use in appropriately playful style.
